Hi! Summer seminar applications open this week, but I will not have my current PSAT or ACT scores until the end of December. When I took them my sophomore year, I received a 27 on the ACT and on the 8 to 38 scale PSAT I got a 34 on reading, a 33 on writing, and a 30.5 on math. I have heard that your chances are better of getting in if you apply as early as possible. Is this true? Should I apply early with my old scores or should I wait until I get my new scores?
I applied to all three summer seminars (USMA, USNA, and USAFA) and got into all three but could only go to USAFA this summer. For the USAFA application I submitted it a few hours before it was due haha. But For the USNA and USMA apps I think I submitted them pretty early on in the process. My sister submitted her USNA app pretty much toward the end and didn’t get in. My advice would be to just get in everything in as soon as you can, I believe the seminars use a rolling admissions, but I’m not sure. Also, I noticed ALOT of the people attending the USAFA SS (myself included) did track, cross country or swim, something to look into if your not already. Anyway, good luck to you and feel free to ask any more questions you might have!
@cm7422 Also, the USMA app doesn’t open until January 15 and closes March 30. The USAFA app opens Dec 1 and closes January 15. And I looked online for USNA but couldn’t find the dates however the USNA app last year opened January 13th. Good luck!
Thanks for the advice! I have not done any of the 3 sports, which I really regret. I plan on running cross country next fall though. I am a tournament and varsity golfer, so I will at least have that on my applications. When you filled out your applications, was there a spot for individual athletic activities (non-school)? I box and run for fun, so I’d like to be able to show that.
@Europa66 Thanks so much! I knew USAFA opens Thursday, but I was having a lot of trouble finding the dates for USMA and USNA.
Hmmm I don’t remember if there was a spot for individual athletic activities. But I think for USMA there was a space for other athletic activities. And for USNA you have to answer an essay question in about 250 words on why you would like to attend.
@cm7422 And I had to write an essay for USAFA as well.
@Europa66 Thank you so much for all of your help!
Hi! I am applying for USAFA summer seminar and was wondering if I could know what test scores you submitted and what they were to help me know where I stand. Thanks.
