Summer seminar, use of glasses or contacts

i know that we cant use contacts but can we use our own glasses during the week? my eyes are bad enough to where its very difficult to see things taht are 6 inches in front of me.

if i am not mistaken, i believe contacts are allowed. glasses seem too fragile to be required.

I wore contacts last year, unless they changed the rules you’ll be fine with them.

:D

Who’d like to explain the term “BCGs”?

Beyond “indestructible,” i.e. …

Haha… more like Birth Control Glasses. I felt sorry for all the recruits that wore those in basic. :D

BCG does stand for “Birth Control Glasses” because they theoretically are so ugly they prevent close contact with anyone of the opposite gender. Google them and see for yourself :D

Do they look like these?

Where do you get them?

sooo glad i have 20/20 vision. so very glad.

contacts are allowed at NASS. But I popped one out during a drill session and missed the funniest marine on the planet telling us about “why marines drill”? I heard the second half beginning with “god’s marines must move in style” but be ok with losing a contact and just getting on with it. Soak it in

Even if you plan to wear contacts be sure to take your glasses for back-up. When S1 (NROTC) went to Cortramid freshman summer, he fractured his wrist (fighting with pugli sticks) at Camp LeJeune. His right wrist was so swollen and bandaged up so tightly that there was no way he could have put his contacts in. Thankfully, he had carried his glasses just in case.

you can use your contacts for NASS, and as already mentioned, bring your glasses for backup.

the BCG’s, if required, will be issued to you once you have been offered an appointment and report in for I-Day. Those you get to wear throughout plebe summer- which, like all good things, comes to an end!

Enjoy Nass!!!

your contacts are gunna go through hell during the severn river phase of their mock sea trials so bring an extra pair of contacts and your glasses!
