I know that you will get an e-mail if accepted, but what if you aren’t accepted? Will they still send you an e-mail?

I assume they do... I hope they do so they don't keep us waiting. I think we should start finding out in about a week or so.

Some get mail notification.

Question: Are interviews conducted before or after we find out if we got into the seminar. If after, are they conducted before or after the summer seminar?

Also, is the interview with the ALO the only interview, or are there others with the academy?

Thanks.

One official interview with the ALO, then with Congress reviewboard, or whoever you are seeking a nomination from.

Have your ALO interview done by the summer, if that is before or after the Summer Seminar is up to you or your ALO....

Last year I had to have an interview with my ALO on Jan. 27, then I got an email of acceptance for the summer seminar on Jan. 30. Some people however, do not have to interview with their ALO for the summer seminar. My ALO wanted to because he said it would help my chances of getting in....I guess he was right. I then had my official interview for my application to the Academy in late August of last year. I recieved my appointment two weeks ago. After all was said and done, I had five interviews: two with my ALO (one for the summer seminar and one for my application), one with each senator, and one with my congressional representative.

Senators in many states do not interview because they have too many applicants. It's great if you're in a state where they do interview. The experience is worthwhile whether you get their nomination or not.

Does anyone know how long it takes to process the applications for the summer seminar? I submitted mine Friday, but I couldn't find a timeframe for processing anywhere on their website. And what about the interviews? I applied already, do I still have to do an interview with someone?

Interviews are not part of the Summer Seminar application process, although it seems to have helped some people get in.

When I sent in my ACT scores, the lady on the phone said that most people usually hear back in March...

March.....???

What we were told, is that some folks hear back right away (my dd heard in less than 2 hours last year)--those had more boxes checked, some go into the next pool and hear in a month, and finally, some go into a lottery system.

It's really hard to believe that someone on CC hasn't been accepted yet though.

Yeah you'd think someone would hear by now if last year, they were getting back to people within two hours.

At this time last year I didn't even know about summer seminar, and I didn't apply until late February. If you guys had applied later I'm sure you would have heard back within a couple of days.

Redhead,

Applying early = finding out later
Applying later = finding out sooner

I'm not seeing where you are going with this one.

Maybe everyone applies early so usafa has to go through all of them during the first month. After the initial flood of applications settles, they can approach the gentle stream of applications that follows a lot faster? I'm just guessing here...

No one gets an offer of admission to SS until the committee starts sending out invitations. If that doesn't begin until Feb, then the Jan applicants have to wait it out. The Feb applicants may get almost immediate action on their applications. That's no reason to wait till later to apply, but it's also no reason to get discouraged when you apply early and don't hear from them.

I wish I knew what it took to get an immediate acceptance.

I applied early last year, had a phone interview with my AOL (she called initially to introduce herself and let me know that she would be calling back in several days to do a 15 to 20 min. interview), then recieved
e-mail acceptance for the summer seminar on 1/25/06. My statement on the application was brief - no more than two or three sentences at most.
