Has anyone heard yet about the Summer Seminar? Any information will be helpful. Any rejections or acceptances?

I spoke to the admissions folks this morning because we had some addl info to add the the NASS application. Acceptance / rejection have begun to go out. All should know by mid-April.

I have been dropping in on both USNA board and USAFA board..I applied to the summer seminar for both...I had an interview for USAFA but not USNA does Navy do interviews?

Kmjg2000 - I am not aware of any interview requirement for USNA summer seminar. Ther is nothing on the application to indicate otherwise. What was the nature of your interview w/USAFA? Face to face? Phone? Was it soley for getting into thier summer program?

I believe USNA goes strictly by what appears on the on-line app. If anyone has any info please chime in!

I also had a phone interview for USAFA SS. It seemed like it was only for the summer seminar because it didn't go into much detail. I haven't heard anything from either academies

I went to NASS last year. I was accepted to all of the service academies except USCGA & USMMA (I didn't apply) summer programs but only went to Navy's cause it was the only school I cared about. Air Force required a phone interview with your local liason. No other academies did though. Don't sweat NASS. they make it seem like it is required for admissions but honestly it isnt a huge deal. If you do go though, make sure you go full heartedly so you can hopefully impress admissions if you run across them.

Thanks scubaguy for the info......

My daughter heard today from NASS. She applied for it after the first week was open for applications. She will be attending the 3rd session.

so Midmomof2 did she hear via email or USPS?

I was called to go over my application and the officer told me about prgms at USAFA etc. I have lots of positives on my record but he did tell me to beef up leadership before next year...I am running for Senior class prez for next year... other than that we really hd a nice easy chat.

S got a letter in the mail this afternoon. Yes for session 3.

I GOT IN!
cuz of sports though

My D is in. Session #1. Heard about 2 weeks ago via snail mail. She is very excited and scared!

kmjg2000

She heard by USPS.

I got the letter today. Got Session 3.

Good Luck

In case anyone here is interested, my son did NOT get into the summer session last year. But he received his appointment to USNA this January...so rejection from the NASS does not necessarily mean a rejection from the academy! We don't really understand what happened, but we're awfully excited that he made class of 2012!

Good to hear as we anxiously await the mail each day :o) thanks for the positive thoughts

Hi everyone that is anticipating an accept or decline letter from NASS.

I just wanted to encourage all of those candidates still waiting. Last year I applied to NASS on February 1, 2007 at Midnight. Several months later, to my dismay, I was told that i was put on the wait list. Of course the wait list was better than a declination letter but, many of you may be able to relate that a "wait list" status is still not as relieving as the "accepted" status. Anyway, I was contacted two weeks before Summer Seminar session 1 started and was told that there was an opening and I had been accepted.

Although I was not first choice for summer seminar, I still showed the academy and Cadre what I was capable of by keeping a great attitude about everything.

In November, I was informed that I was accepted. It was all a matter of time and patients. Although it is hard to wait, EVERYONE does. Keep a good mind about everything. If you are meant to be there than you will. If not, keep strong and apply for the academy early (begin in June). It shows diligence and desire.

Key word in all application process'....Perseverance. -GO NAVY!

good story to inspire those applying for Summer Seminar...i also went there last year (Session 2, A-2-5). I went in with an open mind, and had the time of my life. I can easily say that it was the best week of my life. My whole squad still stays together, and almost every single one of us has received an Appointment (a few are still waiting). Awesome experience..I hope everyone goes into it with a positive attitude-it will pay off.

Getting accepted to Summer Seminar does not indicate that you will get an appointment....

Not getting into Summer Seminar does not indicate that you will not get and appointment...
