I'm going to take two courses over the summer, and the end date is supposed to be August 13th, a Friday. I do not know when the finals are for my classes, but would I be able to leave directly after my finals, as I live 2 hours away?

My main question is if I'm trying to go on a trip from the 14th to the 21st, and the starting date for the semester is the 19th, would that be okay? I know classes don't start until the 26th, and I would probably be back by the 22nd, or 23rd at the latest, would I just get the inferior bed, or would I need to check my room in earlier?

Basically, when do most people arrive on campus for the fall semester, and if it is the 19th, would I have to have someone sign in for me while I am away?

Thanks.

you don’t have to be here until the start of instruction which is the 26th. if you are living in the dorms, then you should be here by the date of your move in for your particular dorm. I believe all the triples move in on one day, and then they do something else the next day. Check which day your move in is for where you will be living. The last day of everything for summer will be august 13th, and this includes finals and due dates for papers.

Thanks, I will try and find the move in dates for the different housing I’ve applied to.

Move-in for the dorms isn’t until the 22nd of August, if you are in a dorm you wouldn’t be allowed into the building prior to that. The date that a semester begins precedes the relevant dates for students by a bit, allowing staff to handle pre-semester requirements. You have to look at the ‘move-in’, ‘date food service starts’ and ‘date instruction starts’ dates to choose when to arrive.
