Im a prospective Cal student and I am pertty sure that I will take some classes at either Cal or local community college.
Since i do not have any knowledge of Summer Session or classes at Cal, i have some questions here.
1.It might be a stupid question, but do grades i get in Cal during summer session go to my college GPA?
2. According to Cal's AP credit policy, students who passed calc bc with score of 4 or 3 have to take math1b course. Can i take math1b course at cc or Cal during summer and start with multivariable calc this fall at Cal?
3. Can i take English courses at local cc and get credits so that i do not have to take any English courses at Cal?
Im admiitted as a ChemE student in College of Chemistry.

I second your questions, can someone answer them?

1.yes
2. yes (although i woulodn't recommend it-cc classes are not at the same level as cal classes)
3. yes
of course, i am an l&s student in the same predicament but this may not apply exactly to you...

1 is a no. They just count for credit. The only time they will see what grade you got is when certain impacted majors (like psychology, I was told this yesterday at cal) are trying to see if you meet the min. gpa requirement to be accepted for that major under L&S.

Unless it has changed very recently, all UC classes (summer or not) count in your UC GPA- no other transfer classes count in your UC GPA, though they would still be seen and could be calculated for a total UG GPA by a prospective grad school

somemom is correct.

You certainly can take 1B over the summer as you suggest. However, 1B at Berkeley is a lot harder than your AP Calculus class was, I would be prepared to study very hard and never let yourself get behind.
