Right now I'm planning on attending the Summer Program for High School Students at Columbia, and was just wondering if anyone here attended it before and if they did to describe it?

bump........

There are plenty of other students who have already asked this question. All you need to do is search.

Ok, I did that before I posted and found absolutely nothing, searched again and found nothing, so if people have posted about this I'd really appreciate where to find the info.

What are you searching for? I searched for "Columbia University High School Summer Program" and found several results...

On this website I haven't seen any posts on it.

My youngest daughter has been accepted to this program so I have been sort of following the posts. There have been a few over the months that she was thinking about applying. Mostly they talked about whether it was worth the money. Lots of kids said they are worthless. Others knew kids from their school who had been who also got accepted to Columbia. I think most agreed that if you have the money, it can't hurt, but that if money is an issue, it might not offer any more benefits than some less costly things you could do with your summer.

Well I don't plan to attend Columbia for college, so it doesn't matter to me if it doesn't help get in there, I'm interested in the actual program.

The problem is that there is absolutely no causal link between attending the summer program and being accepted into Columbia. Those people would have been accepted even without the summer program.

Even if you have the money, it does hurt. It is opportunity cost--you can be doing something else better with your summer that might actually help you get in.
