Quite a few people take courses in the summer but I'm guessing this number decreases as students get older and get internships during the summer before their junior and senior years.

Summer sessions for difficult courses like organic chemistry, biology, physics can be more difficult because you are learning an entire semester's worth of material in a couple of weeks. But it can be easier if this is your only class. It's up to your personal preference - do you learn things easier in shorter periods or do you need more time to absorb material?

It is possible to do MCB in 4 years w/o taking summer.

Plenty of people take summer sessions. A bunch of my upperclassmen friends took session A (at the beginning of the summer) and then started working or went to an internship. I just finished my freshmen year and I didn't feel like going to those internship/job fairs, so I decided on summer school.

I'm taking Math 54 and History of Art R1B; it's a fairly easy load. The pace is very fast for both classes, but I think it is generally easier as long as you don't take more than two classes.

Berkeley comes at you in spurts- you'll have long lulls of "hey let's have fun!" punctuated by one week where all you can think of is, "GOTTA CRAM GOTTA CRAM!"

Over the summer, the cool down time is more than enough to excel. Over the summer, you gotta toughen up.
