Is it still possible to sign up for summer sessions courses, and is it possible to live on campus during it?

yes, and yes.

is this like the summer bridge program? do you take classes to get ready for college in the fall?

This is just standard summer school, it has nothing to do with summer bridge.

The one film class I needed before I could declare the major as a transfer is closed to enrollment :(

I have the professor for nihilism in film (a philosophy class) as my TA in a diff philosophy class right now. Just wanted to let anyone here who is curious know that he’s badass!

Pscholler: Email the department and the professor. It’s possible it might not be actually capped. This is for the Literature department, but I was told that for their classes, none but the senior seminar class would be capped.

If the film class is indeed capped and enrollment won’t be increased (which if it hasn’t by now, it probably is capped), they might be able to push you in if space allows. You just need to talk to the right people :). Good luck.

I’m trying to enroll in math 19A for the summer but it’s not allowing me to. It’s saying that I don’t meet the pre-reqs. Am I suppose to mail them my transcript or can I get it’s waived? I’m an incoming fall 2010 transfer student.

Yes, they need proof that you can enroll in it. If you got a 3 on the AP Calc AB test, it will allow you to enroll in Math 19A. If you did not take the AP test or an equivalent college level math course, you have to take the math placement test. I’m guessing in your case it’s because they don’t have your transcript.

They added spots to the Film class. Now I have to decide if I want to be in class from June 21st to August 6th. I was looking forward to some down time but taking this class will really set me up for success and I am considering it.
I figured out it will cost in the range of $3500 to take the class and housing (if I live on campus in a double). The tuition is $1400 and housing is $2100 Is there a way to get financial aid for summer sessions?

Here’s the page with the summer F/A info. Generally, “TO BE CONSIDERED FOR SUMMER FINANCIAL AID FOR EITHER OR BOTH SESSIONS, UCSC STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN SIX OR MORE CREDITS NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, JUNE 18.” So, they automatically consider you if you’ve enrolled in 6 or more credits, and if you qualify under a few other things. Here’s the website:
