My S is waiting also after sending his app in December. He also sent off a followup inquiry via email and hasn't heard anything. Thanks for the statement idea..... I will do that.

I sent my app in around December 10ish and got confirmation that they received it a little after the New Year. I just heard back today that I got an audition.

Doesn't hurt to call to see if it got lost in a pile or the mail or something like that.

Wishing all of you the best with auditions. Looking forward to reading where everyone will be performing this summer.
My question is about theaters that have summer intern programs - for tech/management/administration. Wondering if any of you know of theaters with intern programs that you would recommend. She's gotten a number of ideas from internet searching, backstagejobs.com, and from her professors and the theater she interned at last summer. Thought some of you might have past experiences or know of theaters that aren't on the big radar screen (like Williamstown, Barrington... are).
Not sure how this year's economy is going to effect theater internship applications/hiring. Could be that there will be fewer applying for the positions as the pay is usually pretty low in comparison to other types of work, or it could be that there are fewer other jobs available, so theater-minded kids my flock to even the low paying internships figuring at least they'll get resume experience.
She loved interning last summer and is hoping to be able to find something again this year -so figured the more places she applies, the better her chances. We live in CT - so New England or Northeast would be great - but she's willing to travel for a good experience.
Thanks so much and "break a leg" to all who are auditioning!

Hi famcruisefun,

I seem to remember last year that Goodspeed Opera House had an intern program. All of the info was on it's website. Don't know if it pays, but I would think it's a great opportunity for tech & to build the resume of course. Let me know what you think or if you've heard anything. Plus it's in CT, & they have housing too.

Has anyone's son or daughter been fortunate to obtain summer work as a result of their Strawhat audition in the prior years? If so, how was the experience? What types of work did they land?

My D worked for a summer with an Equity theater in the northeast. She loved the experience. Pay was minimal, but students received Equity points towards eventual membership in the union. Meals were provided during rehearsal days and days when there were two shows, but not on days off. Performers appeared in musicals, and alternated as performers in an after-show dessert cabaret. Ten weeks of long, hard days and nights, but she enjoyed every minute of it.

thank you onstage.

My son received his audition letter with time/day for Strawhats yesterday. The timing for the process was 5 weeks. (last week of Dec to first week of Feb) His approval was online (in the Members Only section) earlier, but he hadn't checked it.
