Anyone have any info. on places to store stuff for the summer? Thanks!

I'll try again...

Where do out-of-towners store their stuff for the summer? Thanks.

When my S went to NW, he stored a few boxes with College Boxes (think that's their name). They provide materials, store stuff, and ship stuff home.
They are not cheap. Plus I've heard from others at other schools that they lose things. Packing up during finals was tough especially if you fly to/from
NW.

This is thread is a bit dated…so for people looking for more up to date info, Campus Solution currently handles more than 90 percent of Northwestern student summer storage. It is found and operated by current students and it’s a the most successful student run business on campus, so that’s pretty cool. Check them out.
It’s a shame that someone runs to CC just to advertise Campus Solutions. Just to explain this, Campus Solutions, which (until now) has had a clear monopoly on storage at Northwestern has faced a new competitor called Boxco., run by Northwestern Student Holdings. NSH is a holdings company of seven student businesses and Boxco will likely be the University endorsed service this year as Campus Solutions was brave enough to cut ties. Boxco offers lower prices: [BoxCo. - Storage made simple at Northwestern University](http://www.nuboxco.com)

If you have car access, get some friends together and share a storage unit at the Public Storage on McCormick. Its significantly cheaper than the on campus options, but again, you need a car.

Fraternity houses are generally the cheapest option. It’s around $75 for a 7x5 spot of ground or something for most frats that offer storage to non-brothers. It’s what I’m using.

I’d choose the other options if you’re looking for insurance or whatever (not something I cared about). Otherwise frat houses are probably the cheapest option.

Geez, the attack…sorry that I even mention Campus Solution? I mean, everyone on campus knows them and I did store with them…Shrugs…sorry I wasn’t aware of BoxCo when I wrote that post. This thread was pretty dead until I posted something last month, really didn’t think anyone was going to read it. If you want to pay for storage and have pick up/delivery service, Campus Solution or BoxCo is definitely better and cheaper than any other storage companies. Good luck!

I would check out Storage Squad. They are at over 25 campuses across the country and I had a good experience storing with them. Their large , 18x24x18 box is only $29.99 for the entire summer. All of their other prices are good as well and they didn’t have any sign up fees. Here is a link:

All I can say is, there are plenty of good options; NU deals with students living far enough away to need storage with a majority of students most likely. I’m sure it will all work itself out.

I have mentioned this in another post… I used a company in Southern CA.
ship2storage.com with great success. My second daughter needed some boxes sent home after summer and then her luggage sent to Grad School. They have many pricing plans.

From experience I have found that traditional storage is always the best to go. I have never been to Northwestern but from the looks of things you have alot of options to choose from. I did a chick search online and this is what I found: [Compare Prices on Evanston, IL Self Storage - SelfStorage.com](20 Cheap Storage Units in Evanston, IL (from $21))

As mentioned before you will probably need a car for most of these but if you have one then it should be no problem. Do some shopping around though and make sure you find the best deal. Good luck.
