summer storage

What is your advice about moving out of the dorm for the summer for someone who doesn't have a car and can only travel by plane. Is there a company who provides service to out-of-state students? Do the dorms offer storage? Does a parent need to plan a trip to move the student out and into a storage unit? Sorry if this has been covered recently. :-)

Hi Sophie,

Storage is available on a first come, first served basis only for undergraduate degree candidates or special students who are actively enrolled at the College. Facilities are limited. All items placed in a storage facility must be clearly marked with the student's name, class year, and Hinman box. Anyone storing or removing another student's belongings without written permission from the owner of the belongings may be subject to a $100 fine and disciplinary action

I came up in late may to pack her up and did take home some of her stuff, but she did not have her self together (I did bring boxes and tape with me). D did end up placing her stuff in storage (tell son don't wait until the last minute to get boxes, tape)

D did store her stuff over the summer last year. We called:

Hanover True Value
3 East South Street
Hanover, NH 03755
(603) 643-2308

The good thing is that they came to pick it up from her room (on the 3rd floor) and they delivered it to her room upon her return. They earned their money the last days of school because they were literally picking up stuff all night.

They charge $10 per box (for pick up and delivery) and $35 a
month (they do not prorate days) per pallet a pallet holds about 4 to 5 boxes. She stored a trunk of linens, her fridge and 2 boxes of stuff. I though it was well worth the money as it seems that this would be less expensive then shipping it back and forth to florida.

Word to the wise, Don't let your son be the friend of the friendless and pack other people's stuff because they only pick up and deliver to one place.

Sybbie, I knew you would be the one to help! You are the best! A lot of information, thank you!
