Logged on to ask about storage units for the Summer and did see a discussion that included two companies that have curbside pick up and delivery. Anybody have any experience with these two companies? Look a little pricey but very convenient and easy. Plus items are insured and climate controlled.

My daughter is a freshman in Carolina and is lucky enough to be living in the Oaks next year. Does the Oaks have Summer storage availability?
Elon Summer Storage is dedicated to premium customer service and the flawless handling of students’ belongings for moving and storage. You can visit our Facebook page at www.facebookcom/elonsummerstorage to see a few posts from parents and other reviews. Doug Winters is a parent who used us last year, and he has taken the time to post about us. He has two daughters at Elon, and uses us for both. We are a new service, so reviews are few at this time, but we hope to build a more plentiful repertoire of feedback to post after this year’s operation.
We visited our daughter last weekend and rented a storage unit CubeSmart (1226 Mebane St, Burlington). We live in PA and do not want to cart all her things back home. It is not too far from the campus 5-7 miles (?) and they have carts etc., if you need to use them to help load/unload. When I called a few weeks ago to reserve I was helped by two really great people. We were able to rent an inside climate controlled 5 X 10 unit. (Storing a TV and winter clothes among lots of other supplies that we do not want effected by extreme summer heat.)
It is a larger size than I think we will need but she may have one of her roommates for next year use it also for half of the payment. Plus, we are not limited to the amount of items that we can place in it. Rental with insurance (mandatory) is about $66 per month. We liked the ability to get to her things as often as we need during move-in weekend in Aug. Our daughter will be living in Oaks also.
We went in last Sat to sign papers and put some things in the unit that she will not need right now (winter clothes). We met with Fred Brown, one of the managers. He was extremely helpful and so welcoming to us. All paperwork and tour of the facility took about 30 min to complete. Very secure and neatly kept facility with camera surveillance. Must enter a code to access the property. We brought our own disc lock for door and damp rid to place in unit. I highly recommend them as our experience has been extremely positive!!!
Thank-you for the recommendation. Dacri12, were you able to rent for the Summer months only, or do you have to sign up for a 12 month lease? We are also from PA! She will have to go and take a look on her own; she doesn’t have a ton of stuff, but she will be driving home herself in a small car and not enough room for everything. Would rather have her leave her stuff in storage and have room to have company in the car with her.
The lease is month to month. We have set up auto pay online. We will only rent to Aug 18. The first month was $88 due to a one time admin fee of $22. The remaining 3 months will be $66 each. Very reasonable $. Plus you are not limited to only a certain # of items and you can access whenever you want. The insurance cover up to $2000 which I feel was more than sufficient for what we are storing. Where in PA are you located? We are in Harrisburg, PA.
dacri12, we are outside of Phila- near Villanova. All the self storage places I called didn’t have anything available! But did make arrangements with ElonSummerStorage. May work out better because I could set it up for my daughter and it will be convenient for her to pick up her things and then deliver in August. In any event, it is taken care of! Now will just worry about her driving back home by herself!
I used Help U Store It for my daughter last year, I honestly can’t say anything but positive things about the expierence. I also looked at Elon summer storage, but decided on Help U Store It because of their service. I chatted online and called, both occasions I got my answer immediately. On the pickup day, they sent me text alerts to let me know their timing, and even came right to her room no questions asked!
The price is very similar between the two, but for the items I was storing it was a little bit cheaper for Help U Store It.
I was not there for the delivery of the items, but my daughter let me know it was just as smooth as the pickup.
I will be using them again this year.

Too funny! We used Help U Store It too! My daughter goes to Villanova, so they must be at a lot of schools. Every time i called though I spoke right to the “owner”. It was the best service ever.
