Summer storage

My S is currently completing his freshman year at USC. We live in New England and were wondering if anyone could recommend a summer storage service. He does not have a car. My D who attends school in Boston has several services to select from that deliver boxes, pick them up for storage and deliver for fall semester. Any similar services in Columbia?

When I did a search I found that USC was listed as colleges served by Dorm Room Movers. That seems to be like what you’re describing.

In the FAQ of housing, USC listed several nearby storage places but doesn’t recommend one over another - it would be up to you to call and check them out. If S is freshman then doubtful he has furniture to move (unless there’s a futon involved). In other words, could his stuff be transported by any car? Maybe he can ask friend with car to take stuff over to storage.

I also have a freshman son (we live near Boston). I am looking into Dorm Room Movers since they not only have a storage service but can also ship boxes home. They provide the boxes and packing materials. You can schedule a pick up at the end of the semester and they will drop off to the new dorm in August. Not recommending any one service over another but Dorm Room Movers seem like what I was searching for.

My nephew attended Notre Dame and the alumni chapters would sponsor the shipment home of boxes and suitcases for the students - maybe at some point that would be nice for Northern Gamecocks to coordinate?

Good luck!

My D is currently a Sophomore and used one of the Public Storage facilities and will use it again this summer. She went in with some friends and it was very reasonable. I set everything up by phone and then she just needed to show up and sign the paperwork. She purchased a lock from them. We also could pay each month online so it was very easy.

My S goes to a school out in the Midwest and we live in NJ. We have used dorm room movers and they were good. They have different packages and made it pretty convenient. If my second son goes to USC I would use them for summer storage. Hope that helps.

Thanks all! Dorm room movers seems just what I was looking for.
