Does anyone know of a good storage facility for GT students? My son is OOS and we don't want to lug the mini-fridge and other items back to South FL for the summer, only to have to lug it back up again in August.
I checked out Dorm2Dorm, but I didn't see GT listed as one of their schools.
Anyone have any ideas or recommendations?

Is he a current student or will Fall be his first term? Either way, your best bet would probably be for him to ask around on campus. He may be able to share cost with someone else or find someone that is more local that would let him use their basement/attic.

There are two convenient services offered to Tech students to store their stuff.

One is campuscarriers (www.campuscarriers.com), which will deliver five boxes (24"x18"x16") and packaging materials to you to pack your stuff in, pick it up, and then deliver it back to you in August. The charge $149 for this service, but each additional box costs $34, and there are additional charges for over-sized items such as futons, rugs, refrigerators, microwaves, TV’s, etc…

The other pick up and deliver option is Mobile Storage Depot ([Mobile Storage Depot - 200 Kelly Drive. Peachtree City, GA 30269](http://www.mobilestoragedepot.com)). They will deliver a 5’x7’x8’ storage unit to campus for you to put your stuff in, pick it up and store it for the summer, deliver it back to you in August, and then pick up the empty unit. They will also deliver any packing materials you need when they deliver the unit. They charge $340 for Georgia Tech Students to pick up, store, and deliver their stuff over the summer and charge extra for boxes and packing materials.

Packing Material Prices:
Small Box: $0.98
Medium Box $1.68
Large Box $1.98
X-Large Box $2.98
Roll of Packing Tape $1.50
25’ Bubble Wrap $5.00
10lb Packing Paper $8.50

If you have a good amount of stuff the second service is likely cheaper, but campus carriers can be a good deal if you can fit your stuff into their 5 provided boxes and do not have too many over-sized items. Both services provide insurance, but only mobile storage depot provides climate control and 24/7 security. Campuscarriers also do not allow you to store any liquids or anything that could potentially be combustible.

Hope that helps!

He’s finishing up his freshman year at GT. He doesn’t really have that much, but we’d prefer to leave whatever we could up there…especially because our vehicle is small and it’s a tight fit as it is.
InPursuit…thanks for the info. I’m checking out campuscarriers and it looks like that one will work just fine!
