Hey, I made this thread since the Summer term is earlier than the fall term, and most likely people here are talking about the fall term, I don't want to miss any deadlines.

Is the timeline for students admitted into the summer any different than fall term?

For example, after being accepted and paying housing deposit, is there anything we absolutely must do before may 1st?

pay tuition deposit. then register for orientation asap. the earlier orientation sessions have bettrer selection of courses. our s started fsu last summer and loved it. the one thing i will caustion you to regarding course registration, is that he was only able to register for summer classes at orientation, not fall classes as well. I never got a clear explanation for why the school does this, because it does place the summer students ata slight disadvantage for fall registration.

anyway, how it works, is you go to orientation (which is great), register for summer classes (be prepared ahead of time what classes you want to take. the more organized you are the more you will get out of orientation). then about 10 days into to summer session, they open up the registration window for summer students to register for fall classes. This also will require some preperation depending on what your intended major is etc. after the summer orientation sessions are over, you can go on the fsu web site and see what classes/sessions are available for the fall. that way you are ready to go, when registration opens up in the summer.

For my s, it all worked out fine and he was able to get the classes he wanted. he is working toward applying for the business school and will have all his required courses done next fall.

to review the academic maps and see what is required of you to pursue your major. perhaps you have already done all of this, but, I just thought I should point out these useful pages.

Summer is a great time to get ENC 1101 or 1102 out of the way. If you have those credits, take another Gordon rule class-a w class. It is also a good time to look to get one of your x or y requirements done. Even better is an x or y that meets the Cordon rule. Start to get familiar with both your major requirements for the first 2 years, as well as the Gordon rule w/x/y/lit requirements. It seems confusing at first. But soon you will have it down. This pamplet is given at orientation and it is GREAT-- fsu.edu | It's All Academic. This link Florida State University Registrar helps you to look for classes that satisfy the w/x/y requirements.
This is in your orientation packet as well I believe fsu.edu | your pagetitle here

Otherwise deadlines are the same, except for summer housing. When summer housing goes live, remember that all summer students (freshman as well as upperclass) will be going on to register and get a priority number. Your fall priority number is for fall/sping and remains with you as long as you stay in housing at FSU for subsequent fall/spring terms. But each summer housing session is independent. So when they announce summer housing dates, mark your calander and go on early to get a good number.

I'm summer session as well. Since I am not certain that I am going to FSU, I have yet to pay my deposit. Can anyone tell me when the summer orientation dates are?

I don't recall the summer orientation dates, but the process to register is the same. Somewhere during the registration, you select your term (Summer in this case) and those dates appear. They were all in late May.

Does anyone recall when we can start the summer housing selection process? I recall seeing a date somewhere..
