Summer Study Abroad - Arcadia

I would be interested in hearing from parents whose kids went on a study abroad, specifically through Arcadia University.
I would also like to know if anyone's kids got financial aid and/or scholarships for their study abroad experience.
My D has applied to a summer program as a semester long program is not possible with her major.

My son is currently spending the (junior) spring semester studying at the University of Auckland in NZ through Arcadia University. It is one of two programs (the other being Butler University) that his home school (Fordham University) contracts with for students interested in traveling to NZ.

Although he did almost all of the legwork, I’ve found Arcadia to be easy to deal with and very responsive to my questions. I have gotten to know their “staff person on the ground” in NZ quite well via e-mail. I have a cousin who lives in suburban Philadelphia and one of her daughter’s works in Arcadia’s Office of Residence Life. She has many good things to say about the school – I think it’s Global Studies program is an up and coming one.

Not sure about how financial aid works for the summer months – my son applied for assistance for his stint but was denied (a small portion of his Fordham merit scholarship was portable, and overall, other than plane fare, it didn’t cost me much more than if he had spent the summer at Fordham and had continued to be an RA where he was getting free room and board).

So at this juncture I’d give it a thumbs up – where does your daughter want to travel? Many of the American students who are in NZ with my son actually attend Arcadia (9 of 18 students).

Thank you!
She is looking at Barcelona for 7 weeks, May-July. Sent in her application and also applied for a scholarship through Arcadia. She has done all the leg work for this with zero encouragement from me.
I received a very nice email from another ccers whose daughter also went through Arcadia. Glowing recommendation.
Thanks again!

You are most welcome. Good luck to her!
