I want to study abroad in Spain during a 6 week program offered by my University. However no financial aid can be put towards the program costs, leaving me with loans as the only option. This trip will cost 10k-15k. Is it really worth that size of a loan??

Thanks!

Definitely not worth it. Take a real 6 week vacation to spain for under $5k, maybe a lot less.

God no.

Have a look at the cost of backpacking around Spain - flights, hostels (see [Hostels, Hotels & Youth Hostels at HostelBookers](http://www.hostelbookers.com) ), food, transport and entertainment for six weeks. If it comes to a third of the price of that study abroad programme then I would be highly surprised.

Wow, lots of cost-related study abroad posts lately.

[Budget Study Abroad Homepage - Budget Study Abroad](http://www.budgetstudyabroad.com/index.php) has some info, but looks like it’s a new site -I came across it via an email alert - was doing some research for a friend’s kid who wants to study abroad.

Hope it helps.

My personal opinion is that in 99.99 percent of the cases, student loans are bad news, especially in today’s economy. But, you’ll see there are other ways of doing it.

Where in Spain will you be going? And through what university?

I spent two semesters in Spain - and have been back to visit since - 10k - 15k sounds waaaay too much to me!

Is it really 10k - 15k for a 6-week program? You sure that’s not the cost for an entire semester, including homestay and meals?
