My story.

Going to be a senior. Here are my scores:

Sept 08 : 24
Feb 09 : 26
April 09 : 27
Jun 09 :24

Ugh, I dropped 3 points. If I actually study for 2 months, you think I'll be able to reach 29, perhaps 30? Honestly, all the practice I've done for each test might have been like 1 practice test the day before and that's it. Give me hope.

What score do I need for UC Irvine? I got 24 and it was my first time. If I start studying will I be able to bump it up to a 29, or a 30??

While it cannot be ensured that it will be easier than this month, you do have a whole summer to prepare. If you plan on giving enough effort, then go ahead. Just make sure not to slack off and you might even exceed your goal a bit. However you do have to become comfortable with the ACT to have a good shot of a 30+ score.

Honestly I don’t think you will make it up to 30.

Statistically the greatest increases always occur for the second test. Unless you didn’t study at all, it is dubious to think your 3rd try will be any different.

Sorry statistics don’t lie.

Sadly, I agree with IntangibleGator. You’ve already taken the ACT four times (which is hardly tipping your toes in the water); I highly doubt that you’ll realistically be able to improve your composite score by such a vast amount. Why didn’t you study more for the last four administrations? You obviously must’ve had some measure of your strengths and weaknesses from prior testing. Also, the somewhat haphazard nature of your scores (no upward trend) indicates that further study will not help you significantly.

It’ll hard because whenever I take practice questions, I can’t do my test because I knew it’s practice and doesn’t count for anything. Wish me luck.

good luck with that
i’m gonna retake it in september as well, but its only gonna be my second time
hopefully i can bump up my score to 33 or even 34

Take the test for me man.haha
