So I have been offered a position as a summer temp at a very reputable bank for this summer. I was wondering how this work experience vs an "internship" will be viewed on my college app. Also I have heard that for high schoolers such as myself with no experience the internship position would be basically a temp position doing office work. How will admissions staff look at my temp job title vs an internship job title? And also do you suggest getting a letter of recommendation from my employer or will a letter from a teacher look better?

Well, it’s not like it matters–the goal is never primarily to impress adcoms.

Internship is a word. So is temporary. What counts is what you GET OUT OF IT. I’m sorry for shouting, but it seems most people don’t understand that when the applications asks you to describe what you did over the summer, it doesn’t care what you did, but HOW YOU BENEFITED from the experience–professionally, personally, emotionally, maturity-wise, etc.

As for a rec, depends what for.

Thank you, I can see how this came across as immature, and I will most definitely be getting something out of it this summer.
