<p>Good news. I just spoke with UCLA’s Summer Programs office. The person on the phone seemed a lot more informative and helpful. He explained to me that what we can do is sign up as Visiting Students in March. He said that it is very important to notify the Summer Programs office as soon as we are accepted in April/May so that they can ‘adjust’ our account. I’m presuming this means that they will adjust our account from a Visiting student to an actual Student account. That’s the information he gave, so I guess we won’t even need to drop and re-add the class. He just said we have to notify them as soon as we are accepted. </p>

<p>If they ‘adjust’ our account for us, I wonder if we would encounter this problem?</p>

<p>I don’t think so, because this would be added to our Student account, which is part of our post-transfer coursework. On the other hand, if we were signed up as a visiting student, the units would be part of our pre-transfer coursework and count towards transferring.</p>

<p>So 129 units is the max for UCLA. I would have had 105 from AP/CCC and 16 university over the summer, which is only 121.</p>

<p>But this account “adjustment” is what I was wondering and seems like the best option.</p>

<p>I think this is the most feasible option. As soon as March rolls around, we can sign up online, and then call them once we get our acceptance letters into UCLA to adjust our accounts.</p>

<p>I recently found out that one of my major requirements (for lower division) is a Japanese Civilization class, something I took at my CC already. I think we can also handle all petitions in the summer as well, preferably before orientation. Late April/early May is going to be a hectic time for us!!</p>

<p>I want to take econ 11 and stats 100A in session A and econ 101 and stats 100B in session C.</p>

<p>econ 11 is the prereq for econ 101, stats 100A is the prereq for stats 100B</p>

<p>So I’ll have to talk to a counselor to enroll in my session C classes.</p>

<p>Luckily I live pretty close so a drive down there for petitions wouldn’t be a problem.</p>

<p>The class I want to take is Japanese 10 - which is an Intermediate Intensive Japanese course. The official prerequisite for this course is taking three quarters of Elementary Japanese, which I haven’t taken at UCLA. However, I have taken the classes at my community college. The Asian Languages department said that I can take this J10 class since I’ve already taken 2 years of Japanese at my community college.</p>

<p>When I called the Summer Programs office to ask about whether or not I would be allowed to sign up for this class despite the fact that it has a prerequisite, they told me that the system would not electronically enforce the prerequisites when I register. Now I’m not sure if this is just for the Japanese classes, of if it would apply to your Economics and Statistics classes. But they told me that the system would not block my ability to register based on the fact that I haven’t taken the requisite courses. This is what I was told by their office, anyway.</p>

<p>As far as the petitions go, maybe you can fax it to them? For the Asian Languages department, at least, a PDF version of the petition is available online. Then again, like I mentioned above, I’m not sure if the prerequisites are enforced during registration, so maybe you can sign up for Session B classes without a problem.</p>

<p>Yep, the system would block me from enrolling also. I think I’ll need to see a counselor for both sessions now to think of it. Shouldn’t be a problem enrolling though, just bring transcripts.</p>

<p>Faxing might work, but you could also scan it to your computer and attach it to an email. That way you can add a message to it and get replies.</p>

<p>Well, I tried calling the UCLA Admissions “help” line and didn’t get much help at all – I was simply told to “wait and see.”</p>

<p>But the person who works at the Summer Programs office told me that I would be able to register for the Japanese class and that the prerequisites would NOT be enforced electronically. So now I’m really not sure what to believe, LOL! But maybe this is only for the Japanese classes… not sure if prerequisites are enforced for one set of courses and not for the other.</p>
