is this a good option? I know UCF requires summer classes as well, so since FSU is a higher option for me, I figured I'd accept the offer and go for the summer term.

something else - how do I apply for summer housing?

Summer housing sign up is later. There are less students for summer, so that’s not a problem.

And if you enter ANY Florida University, you have to take 9 credits in summer unless you have accelerated credit, such as AP or DE. So you would have to go summer term at UCF as well.

Right, but you still have to sign up for fall housing now to get a priority number. So sign up now for fall housing and then later, you sign up for summer housing.

FSU accepted me into the Summer program and if I choose to enroll I would be bringing along with me credit from AP Euro History (4), AP Environmental Sci (5), AP US Gov (5), and AP Comparative Gov (5). Wouldnt the credits earned from my test scores grant me over 9 credit-hours?

SGfloridian, yes that would be more than 9 hours but summer is still a good way to start college. It’s really laid back and since you already have credit you can take 2 classes and just chill on campus while getting to know tallahassee before all the kids come back. Plus the more credit you have, the more you can do. Double major, double minor, graduate early, take a smaller course loads later on? it’s something to think about. I started summer and I loved it. I met a lot of people and I didn’t feel like a newbie when fall started. I’m actually doing summer again this year. so if FSU is one of your top schools then definitely go for it! Oh and I took public speaking and college algebra. I would definitely recommend public speaking in 6 weeks. it’s an easy way to get it over with and get an A. Math was easy too but tedious and every day at 8 am. Really depends on how much you like math and if you need to take the class…

Thanks for your advice Tina! FSU is one of my top two choices and Im visiting the campus this winter before I make my final decision. Getting a head start on getting to know the campus is definitely something I want to do.
I cant wait to visit hahha:)

My D applied for summer right from the get go. She also brought in AP and DE credits. The summer experience really prepared her for fall, she got to know the campus and feel comfortable. And the extra credits have allowed her to easily fulfill requirements for a major, a minor and a certificate and still have semesters that she only has to take 12 hours. Should could have graduated in 3 years, but is taking her time, as she hold several campus wide leadership positions. If you love FSU, take the summer admission and run with it.

Visit the campus on an accepted student day. More about that will be sent to you via email. Check the accepted student webpage with all the links in January. It is a great day to visit, see dorms on the inside, get dorm tours etc.

Now I’m not sure if I’m in summer or not. I logged in to check status and see if I could apply for housing, and it doesn’t mention summer and I am able to apply for fall housing now. I know there are benefits to summer, but I would rather not do it as bright futures will not be accepted, and I can’t afford it

You can’t apply for summer housing till january or february. First, you have to apply for fall/spring housing.

Oh how I want to visit during one of those Accepted tours…But Im a Florida expat all the way over in South East Asia. The tour schedule hasn’t been posted for December, and is currently “TBA.”

Do you all have any recommendations on what I should check out off the beaten path of the walking tour?

Did you say you were accepted into the CARE cummer program? if so they will be sending out an accpetance letter first then after a few days you will receive your CARE packet with all the information about summer housing

Nope, Im admitted for the regular Summer term

oh okay, well just apply Fall/Spring 2011 Housing Agreement ASAP and then when the summer one comes out in either February or March apply for it
