Summer Term

I got accepted to the University of Central Florida for pre-nursing. However, they offered me to attend the summer term to take classes because my test scores weren’t high enough. Would taking a summer term be a waste of money and time? Thanks!

If they offered it to you, it’s because they think you need a little bit of a boost before you enroll. If you go, you’ll be able to “hit the ground running” in the Fall. If you don’t, you risk getting lost quickly. Essentially, they don’t make it compulsory, but they’re saying you’d be better off if you went and at risk if you didn’t with the large crowds, lecture halls, etc. It’ll make the transition easier and it’ll guarantee your Fall semester will go well.
In addition, summer programs are often a great moment for kids to forge bonds, especially at large universities where there are thousands of freshmen: in the summer, you’ll be with a smaller group, you’ll get to know each other, you’ll know your instructors well, you’ll have fun together… it’s a great experience.
So, no, it’s not a waste of either money or time.
