<p>It's hard to focus on summer plans during these college auditions, but my D is wanting to do theatre work this summer. She also is not turning 18 until early fall, and I'm not sure either of us is ready for her to take off alone. What are your kids doing this summer? For those with older kids, would you be willing to share what your kids did after HS graduation and perhaps after freshman year?</p>
<p>Summer between high school and college:</p>
<p>Broadway Theatre Project, written about elsewhere on this forum, 3 weeks later July in Tampa, FL, takes older high school and younger college students. They told me most are age 16 to 20. We checked into it but are not auditioning - however, I can tell you they are having auditions at Sam Houston State Univ. in Texas (I think are are in Texas) - I believe on Feb. 13.</p>
<p>Also, in OCU's recent brochure on summer programs, the 3 week program is for rising 9th through 12th graders, but they are offering for the first time a one week vocal performance program 6/6 - 10 for high school and college students.</p>
<p>Lastly, my son has had great success locally the past few summers during high school performing in local theatres - both professional and community. Check with the local theatres - if she doesn't get cast in a show, maybe she could volunteer for crew work. The theatres here love to have help on the crew, and it is invaluable experience for the actors. Sometimes they'll pay crew before they'll pay the cast if it is a community theatre.</p>

<p>It is a great summer Musical theatre intensive for late high school/college musical theatre students. Located in Breckenridge, CO. It comes highly recommended, even though many have not heard of it... It is a phenomenal program!</p>
