Last week I took a tour of Duke University and all I can say is... WOW. It totally blew my hopes and expectations away. The campus, students I talked to, and admissions personel were awesome. Out of all the colleges and universities I have visited so far it is BY FAR my favorite and I will never forget it. Hopefully someday I will be lucky enough to attend Duke, the college of my dreams. I was visiting the campus for around 6 hours and couldn't find one thing I hated about the school, except that place under the bridge where Im hoping that is where they hold art classes ;p. I look foward to spending the next two years on this forum and conversing with the students and hopefuls like me.

P.S. the student who took us on the guided tour was awesome. I can't remember his name but he was completing his 9th semester at Duke and was majoring in biology. He was very knowledgable about the school and was the best of all the other schools I've been to (Vandy, Wake, Davidson, etc.)

My younger daughter and I also took a tour of Duke last week. We thought the information session prior to the tour was by far one of the best we have ever attended. The admissions officer who led it was extremely sharp, witty, and to the point on every topic she presented.

We were unable to stay around for the complete tour, but I remember the male tour guide to which you refer. He was from Jonesville, NC, I believe? He seemed very candid and enthusiastic about telling others about Duke.

just so you know about the bridge. it is used for advertisements. if a frat is having a party or a club is having an event, they'll paint a little ad on the bridge and everyone who passes between east and west campus will see it. it's quite a nice little billboard system in my view. it is a bit on the ugly side, but it grows on you.

also, it's great to hear your enthusiasm. it duke everything you have - it's definetaly worth it.

Yes memie, the admissions officer that led the info session was excellent. Also its good to know what the actual purpose of the bridge is. Thanks =D

Well, the bridge currently isn't in its best shape... there haven't been many groups painting it since Easter, when some people completely white washed the bridge. Instead, the bridge is filled with graffiti. That'll change in a week or so, when Project BUILD and the FACs paint basically the entire thing to welcome the freshmen.

yeah, duke is great. i just graduated and i miss it already. the best parts are the daily newspaper with the student columns and puzzles, and the free food and tshirts which we got all the time.
