Hi all, I'm a rising junior at Penn looking ahead to next summer and trying to find an amazing internship. I'm looking this early because I'm going abroad next spring, and because I'm excited already. I'm especially interested in working in a corporate or business firm to try it out while I'm young, though my heart lies with public service (what I'm doing this summer).

If anyone has suggestions of general places to look or specific internships in any major US cities that would be fun, pay decently, and will provide great experience that would really be appreciated. I'm also interested in international law, so if anyone knows of any international law programs that look for undergrads, that'd be amazing as well.

Thanks in advance!

I think that you should start your search at the Career services office at Penn to see what comes in.

Law firms rarely hire undergraduate interns. I would suggest sending out emails or letters to firms you're interested in, to ask whether or not they would be interested in hiring you.

Public interest internships are much easier to come by for undergrads, but they rarely pay at all.

thanks for the replies so far..I am aware that Career Services is a good place to look, but since the year hasn't started yet I figured I'd see if anyone on here has any good suggestions. I do have a large number of friends who have had paid undergrad internships, but sadly most, if not all, seem to come through family connections. I'm more interested in hearing if anyone on here has info about well-defined internship programs that firms may offer besides what connections alone seem to get many.

do something remarkably humanitarian, like building hospitals in africa or schools in latin america, or do something remarkably prestigious, like i-banking or consulting. the point is do something remarkable. otherwise, it just doesn't matter. LS is (mostly) a numbers game - but being remarkable will set you apart.
