Summer Undergrad Research Programs

xposted in internships

Does anyone have any experience with SURPS/SURFS in the NYC area? NYU, Columbia AMGEN, Rockefeller SURF, Sloan-Kettering, Albert Einstein, etc.? Supposedly these programs are really really competitive (and I can see why--$$$stipend + housing + awesome research!), and was wondering if anyone knows what it takes to get in.

Also, since I can't really count on getting into any of these, does anyone know any noncompetitive research programs in NYC that offer housing? Or maybe ones that don't? Or, if not research programs, maybe ones that offer clinical experience? Maybe something like shadowing a doctor, or something. Thanks!

Sinai has a SURP with housing and $2500, but I don't know how competitive it is. It's also with the grad school, not the medical school. But while I was trolling the MSSM website with "summer undergraduate" as the search terms, I also found this: Mount Sinai - Department of Emergency Medicine . It's unpaid, and I don't know if there's housing, but from the list of students who participated, I don't think it's harshly competitive. Keep digging through the Sinai website and you might find something.
