Summer Ventures 2013

Hey MichalSR. Im also going to ASU! We should keep in touch. Im from Wake County.

Ugh anyone going to ECU??

Hey majikarp! We can private message if you want! I’m from pitt county

What is the typical waitlist duration? Will they notify you if you dont get in?

Who is going to Charlotte

I am so excited and nervous!!!

I’m excited too!

I want to get in really badly, still havent received any notifications. Should I email them about it?

Nigel13…you might want to email the SVSM campus director or where you are assigned. Tell him or her that you are on the waitlist and remain very interested in attending. If you really want to go, tell them that you will take a spot in any class they have an opening in (or you could say any science class…or any math class if you want one discipline over another). That COULD help. At the very least, you should receive a return email indicating the whether you are likely to get a spot.

What programs did you pick?

I picked statistics, biology, chemistry, and earth science.

This week NCSSM is accepting students off its waitlist. As it does, some of those students will withdraw from Summer Ventures, opening up more slots. So, keep up hope if you are an alternate!

anyone else get in?

I’m assigned to NCCU. Anyone else? If ur a past alumni, please share ur experience. :)

I’m not going to NCCU but 3 of my friends are and they are pretty awesome haha

Does anyone by any chance know when we get our topic assignments for going to Charlotte?

I got mine already but I’m an alternate

@jerryfung8 have you gotten any word back from NCCU yet? I haven’t

Nigel13: you got your study assignments and everything already? I wonder if anyone else did. When did you get yours?

Last summer NC Central was one of the last to send class information as I recall. Also, be aware that NCCU is a historically black university. My friend (white) who went had a great experience there and found it funny that some kids did not know until they arrived for check in that it is an HBCU (historically black college/university). They had to get use to being a minority on campus and then were good with it all!
It is in Durham so there is a cool little college street (9th St. I think) that kids frequent from Duke. NCSSM, of course, is also there. Not much to do, but you are near those places and the chapel hill-ral. area.
