Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics (NC)

I'd say that too, it's just a summer program, so although they r related to NCSSM, might not be as selective as the school itself is. 4.7 Gpa, hmm.....i probably have a higher gpa w/ a lower sat score :( but yet, I believe it will NOt be tough to get in for us.

So how good do you think this program will look to a school like UNC-CH?

Since its state funded, I suppose it'll look better than other programs that you have to pay to get into.

I second Didnotfaillife, plus, NCSSM is affiliated w/ UNC System, so definitely they SHOULD value the SVSM program a lot.

has any applicant heard from them yet? (when do they notify?!)

Beginning of April is when you hear back I believe.

Does anyone know what the average SAT scores of applying NCSSM students are?

I heard like 1200-1400 (CR and M)

Thanks, asifkhan.

Welcome to CC!

oh, I forgot to say u that it varies pretty much depending upon the CD (Congress Distr) ur from. Even if one scores something aroudn 1100 in my CD, they don't have to be worried a lot of about their SAT Score!
Affirmative Action is even more important than SAT score I guess (at some instances)

Does anybody know how many students NCSSM accepts from each district?

hey, u could've asked me! It's ranging from 16-33 (that's the lowest and highest they r allowed to take from every district, and I guess they'll take some 27 from ur district) :)

My son is applying to NCSSM. At Discovery Day on 2/24, Dr. Boarman said that each district has between 18 and 34 spots, depending on population. If a district does not have enough qualified applicants to fill its allotted slots, any unused slots will be offered to kids from other districts.

how were the tests?! I heard no one can finish the math part.........I hope u'd reply soon coz my Discovery Day is March 17th.

Anyone from Wake county? Just curious

My son thought the tests were easy.

What basically was there? For math, what sort of questions? (I heard basic algebra and geom) how abt Eng (was there a prompt or sth?)

I'd rather not discuss what was on the tests since they might use the same ones. I do know there was a writing section with a prompt. My son thought the tests were easy, but he had 800 M, plus over 700 in both CR and W, so his definition of "easy" might differ from other people's.

My son thought the tests were easy, too, and his stats were a bit lower than onedown3togo's excellent stats. If you've had algebra I and geometry you shouldn't find it difficult. I'd advise you to wear a watch (without an alarm) though, so you can pace yourself to be done on time.

wow! u r pretty serious abt plagiarism! anyway, I don't think they r dumb enough of NOT changing it, ok, I don't need it from u. Infact, u couldn't have told me exact maths that came anyway! And abt prompt, trust me that CAN'T be the same one! I don't have a bad sat score either! (ur son's look pretty impressive though!)
