Theres a thread on this in the prep school forum.

leetx, did u apply or something? My stats r pretty much the same as other accepted students like GPA 4.67, All As, Some leadership, GREAT essay, and all those similar stuffs (except one flaw--a low sat score, so I'm so happy I still made it in!)
Yeah, there's an NCSSM Decision thread, u might wanna check out shayonsaleh's stats out there, which is pretty much the same as mine's :)

is anyone going to NCCU for summer ventures... and didn't get a roommate preference sheet? cuz my friend is kinda freaking out about not getting one.

I guess your friend will just have to sleep in the streets. At least it warm in the summer, though it would suck if it rained.

But seriously, if they got accepted and didn't get a sheet, they should contact somebody.

koreanchica019, has ur friend got the whole packet that contained the parent contact form, medical and travel stuffs? if so, then s/he is supposed to get the roommate sheet too! just tell him to contact the coordinator of NCCU quickly!

who here is a rising senior? What kind of stats are needed to get into Governor's School? And why is it "ten times better" than SVSM?

My son is going to NCCU - he did not receive a roommate preference sheet in his packet. Actually didnt know that he was suppose to receive one.

Im from Colombia, and I love math and science but I stopped taking AP in middle school. Im one of the best in math but I am slow and because of this my PSAT didnt go very well. What should I do to get into a good summer college?

I advice you to start a new thread!

I'm trying to pick two classes for SV. I'm gonna the help of some people on this forum. Please tell me which class you would choose in each of these two choices and why, just by reading the names. There's only so much that their descriptions can give you. Has anyone done any of these classes before?

Choice 1: Rank in preference. (#1-5, #1 being the most desired)
Rocket Science, Field Biology, Image Processing and Visualization, Current Directions in Mathematical Research, Experimental Field Geology

Choice 2: Rank (#1-6)
Forensic Science, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Mysteries, Multidimensional Health and Well being (is the the famous "medicine?"), Physics Phenomena, Scientific Reasoning

Again, for the top ranks, please tell about your experiences and why it's considered good. Thanks guys, any help would be appreciated..

is this a first come first serve basis? should i send in my stuff early?

What colleges, dates, and subject assignments did everyone get picked for? Leetx what school is yours because I know WCU does not give those such options.

ASU, what would be ur recommendation on the choices?

anyone? in reference to my post #130

Choice 1: Rank in preference. (#1-5, #1 being the most desired)

3-Rocket Science, #1-Field Biology, #4-Image Processing and Visualization, #5-Current Directions in Mathematical Research, #2-Experimental Field Geology

Choice 2: Rank (#1-6)

2-Forensic Science, #6-Applied Mathematics, #5-Mathematical Mysteries, #1-Multidimensional Health and Well being (is the the famous "medicine?"), #4-Physics Phenomena, #3-Scientific Reasoning

Does anybody know if West Carolina offers these same options where we take a main class on what ever subject assignment and another subject?

I haven't yet received such info. from WCU, however, it'd be really great if I hear so! :D mine only says "field Bio' so I guess I'll be doing that all thru the program.....(?)

I did field biology at WCU, and it was AWESOME! Y'all are going to have a lot of fun.

Can you please tell like what exactly is done there? what are the topics covered? It sounds like, field biology is basically the practical biology dealing w/ plants and all! I hope I'm wrong, right? (cool, my Eng teacher would have been pleased by looking at the paradox! :D)

We were out in the field as much as possible, which meant every day except Wednesdays. If it rained, which it did nearly every day, we were out anyway...bring a poncho. It covered most aspects of ecology, but they eventually divided us up into four groups (plants, lichens, salamanders, and birds). I was in the bird group that studied warblers (hence my name). The four groups collected data for specific research projects that we came up with.

I don't know if it's been changed, but we were in Helder dorm (no A/C). It's across the street from the gym and student union, and Brown cafeteria isn't too far away. The weekend activities were awesome due to WCU's location- we got to go caving, rafting, kayaking, canoeing, climbing, etc.

is the multidimensional health and well being the same as medicine? how competitive is it? Does anyone have any experience or a good description of that class?

sounds like if you're going to WCU you'll have fun.
i'm going there this summer.
i'm going for math though.. i really can't remember which math i signed up for. but all my friends who did it was year said it was really fun.
