Summer visit schedule

Does anyone know if Wesleyan offers tours and possibly info sessions during the summer? I checked the calendar on their website, but there don't seem to be any admissions events listed for the summer months.

Hopefully, they just haven't added them to the calendar yet. Specifically, I'm looking to visit on either Friday, June 6th or Saturday, June 7th. Does anyone have an idea of what the weekday/weekend summer visit schedules are like (times, that sort of thing)?

Thank you!

It is way better to visit during the school year! I got the best impression from all of my schools when I got the chance to see them in session.

However, most colleges do offer summer sessions. Their website ought to specify.

I know, but it's just not possible to visit during the school year. I live in the midwest and April/May is one of the worst times to miss school.

And I looked all over the Wesleyan website, but there's nothing except "check the events calendar," and when I do, there's nothing admissions-related written on either of those two dates. I was hoping that someone on here had visited during the summer last year and would be able to give me approximations for the tour/info session times, if they offer them.

I know for a fact there are tours AND info sessions over the summer. I went to Wes in mid july 2 years ago, and know they still do it. I'm not sure of the times, but there are multiple tours each day... most likely around 11am or 1pm, with an info session at noon? I'm just surmising, and giving an example, but it's probably something like that...

feel free to correct me if someone has different info

So, I have now figured out that I will only have the opportunity to take a tour when I visit (there's not much going on during summer Saturdays). Group info sessions are not offered during the weekends.

Does anyone have any suggestions for things to do or places to see after the tour is over? I'm going to be there on Saturday, June 7th; the tour is at 12:00. Will there be any students on campus? If so, where would be the best place to get the best possible feel for the student body, given that it will be summer?

Also, we'll be spending the night nearby, which means that we have an entire afternoon and evening to kill...anywhere I should check out in Middletown?

Thanks for the help!

Campus will be pretty quiet on a summer Saturday. Looks like there may be some summer language programs happening, but there won't be many students around. Still, you can get a feel for the campus and the town. After the tour, check out the Wesleyan bookstore-cafe which is couple blocks from campus. Then walk a couple more blocks and go check out Main Street, where there are a bunch of restaurants and shops. If you're unfamiliar with that part of New England, and the weather cooperates, you might want to drive south along the lovely Connecticut River and stop in one of the village-like towns, such as Essex. If you want to get dinner later in Middletown, you'll have your choice of Thai, Indian, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, as well as standard American. Have fun.

mflevity: While you're there, if you run into any students def. talk to them. Most of them will love to try to answer your questions and maybe introduce you to whatever other students are around, so that might help you get something of a feel.

If you have a hard time finding people to talk to, walk by the Alpha Delta Phi house (it's on the corner of church and high street, and I'm sure the tour guide will point it out). It's the cheepest summer housing, so I know a lot of people are staying there, and it has a pourch, so if it's a nice day you're likley to see someone sitting out on the porch. Say hi!

Heh, I am actually one of those people who will be living at Alpha Delta Phi over the summer. There are actually a fair number of students who stay over the summer - my estimate would be maybe a bit over 100? Most are doing some kind of research (I'll be doing sociology research); some work at the library, Helpdesk, Long Lane Farm, or other offices on campus.

I feel a little funny giving out my phone number here, but if you want to meet up with some students while you're here, e-mail me at mjweiss@wes sometime before you get here and we can meet up or something... all my friends love prefrosh, so it works out well :P
