Hello,
I am considering visiting Cornell in about two weeks and I had a few questions:
1) What hotel should I stay at?
2) Any places that I should eat?
3) Is there any Cornell students that I could meet from CC as I'd really like to learn more about Cornell.
Thanks!

As a former local, I recommend the super 8 (decent price, decent service). If you don’t need anything fancy, Wegman’s has EVERYTHING you will ever need for food (and at amazing prices too). I can’t help with number 3 (waitlisted), but I recommend that you take the walking tour, visit Snee Hall (amazing rock collection), and get some Cornell ice cream.

Thanks for the recommendations! I will for sure visit snee hall and take the walking tour!

@Calabala I also forgot to say good luck with the waitlist I was on the uchicago one and it was an exciting but weird experience!

Some active users that I know that have gone there:

erg2017, Lelyke, and SuperbBlast

1) agree with calabala, keep it economical
2) thers so much food up here! here are the hours of on campus eateries:<a href=“Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University; , popular spots are Trillium, synapsis cafe, the terrace…the food trucks might still be around, but i don’t really know because I’m living off campus and don’t really pass their parking spaces…off campus, there’s Purity Ice Cream, Sweet Melissa’s for ice cream, Taste of Thai and Moosewood (and countless others) for meals, also the Farmers Market if you are there during the weekend
3) as mentioned earlier, I’m around

Try to get down to 'The Commons" for dinner. Simeons is my favorite, but there are a number of good resturants.

Hey! I visited Cornell last summer too and had a great time. Ithaca is incredible–one might even say “gorges”–this time of year.

1.) I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and liked it. It’s in the downtown area and there are a lot of places to eat nearby; CTB is right down the street and the Commons are within walking distance as well. I’d also recommend the Statler, as it’s right on campus and has great views. But I think most of the hotels in Ithaca are pretty well-maintained, and some are probably cheaper.

2.) There are a lot of good restaurants near the Commons, and if the dining halls are open you can eat there too, I think. There’s also a bakery nearby that sells these really good chocolate chip cookies. (Sorry, this probably wasn’t very helpful)

3.) I’m a GT, so I won’t get there until next fall, but I would definitely take a campus tour! Perhaps these spots are a bit cliche, but I found the AD White Library super cool, and if you want to get some gear there’s always the Cornell Store. I would also check out the freshman dorms on North. The Lab of Ornithology is a bit of a drive, but it’s a great place to take a stroll and also learn about the wonderful wildlife in the area.

I’ll leave the stuff about academics to current Cornellians, but really, it’s an awesome place and I hope you have a blast :)

If you have a car, suggest visit some or all of the nearby state parks: Treman, Buttermilk Falls, Taughannock.
And if you’re with your parents, stop at The Ithaca Farmer’s Market (as mentioned above) before you head home.

I like Ale House, a lot of locals go there. Last time we were there, they had a live band. Statler hotel is great if you want to splurge, but Hilton and Holiday downtown are very convenient. I think they provide shuttle to Cornell.

The Cornell Ornithology gardens are great, I would recommend them.

Visited Cornell in April with my daughter. We stayed at a Hampton Inn on Rte 13, free breakfast at the Hampton Inn, it was near the Wegmans so we got desserts and snacks there (fridge and microwave in room), had dinner at the Ale House 1 night (best burgers!). another night we had dinner at The Boatyard Grill right on the lake (watched the crew teams practicing), visited Taughanock Falls and Wagner winery.

Hi! I’m currently a rising sophomore at cornell who would be happy to answer any questions you have! About the schools, where to stay, what to do while you are there, etc. Just inbox me if you have questions!

Thanks to everyone answering my questions! I really really appreciate it!
