“The school’s future is now very much in jeopardy due to the rampant crime closing in around it.”
Huh? I’m not a fan of Trinity but it’s future is surely not in jeopardy. Let’s not resort to hyperbole here.
“Kenyon 's ranking In USNWR in 2000 was in the high 20’s, low 30’s pretty much same today. Yes the much .ballyhooed Athletic Complex did get done and I am told is outstanding.”
What has changed is the college’s acceptance rate. It has dropped dramatically. I find it a tad disingenuous to first remark how unimpressive Kenyon’s athletic center is (it’s definitely not) then follow up with a comment that you here it is outstanding when questioned on your initial comment. I suggest in the future when posting on your college perceptions that you indicate your visits are almost 2 decades old rather than leaving the impression that they are recent. Context matters.
“Obviously still a desirable school thanks to a graduate named Paul Newman.”
And a lot of other things including a top notch writing program. Today’s applicants are more likely to feel connected to more recent alums like John Green and Josh Radnor as well as a little older alum Bill Watterson.
I’m not a Kenyon alum or parent but it is a great school.
