<p>I am a Syracuse U Freshman BFA Acting major (who sings and dances) and I was looking for a VOCAL intensive for the summer. I have been following the summer intensive thread but they appear to be mostly PRE-college programs. I would appreciate your recommendations. </p>

<p>While this is not a Vocal Intensive Program per se, Circle in the Square Theater School has a summer program in Musical Theater and that might be worth looking into. It is in New York City. People your age attend.</p>

<p>OCU has a one week vocal camp for HS and college students. Last year it was in June. This year's dates are not posted yet.</p>
<p>Ericsmom, is the OCU camp only one week long? Or does Oklahoma City U. offer several programs for high schoolers? I looked on the U's website and it sounded as if last year's program was three weeks, and they produced the musical Footloose during that time. I cannot imagine that they can put together a musical in a week, but maybe I am misunderstanding something here. That wouldn't surprise me! :)</p>

<p>Sorry for the confusion! My son went to the 3 week camp at OCU last summer and was in Footloose. It was a great experience! You can read my thoughts on the summer program discussion thread.</p>
<p>This thread was asking about college programs, so I was trying to answer.</p>
<p>Last summer OCU offered a one week vocal camp in June for high school and college age students (my son did not do that one) and a three week camp in July that was just for high school students. The web site information is still 2005. </p>
<p>Yesterday I got the dates for both camps for 2006 from the program director. They are now posted under the summer program big list / data thread. This year the 2 camps are back to back. The one week is called art song camp and appears to focus on classical music. I assume there is not a full length ending show, but I haven't checked into this. The 3 week musical theatre camp is still for high school students only and wouldn't benefit a college student asking about it on this thread. Also, once the web site is up and running, please double check me on whether the art song camp this year includes college age students, as I'm not familiar with that one.</p>

<p>Thank you for the info-- It is June 6-June 10. It does say "The week will culminate with a performance" and it does include college age.</p>
<p>It sounds great. One week is exactly what I would prefer and classical is fine with me. I would like it a little closer to home (I live in upstate NY) but that is ok.</p>

<p>shortnsweet - you have last year's dates from the web site. The 2006 dates are 6/17 - 24 for this camp, as I updated on the thread for summer program data.</p>
