Summer Volunteer Work w/politcs, intl. affairs?

This will be my last summer before I apply to college, and although in hindsight I wish I had tried to get into a more competitive International Relations and Political Science program like the ones in the topic below, I didn't know at the time and signed up for National Student Leadership Conference at the beginning of summer (which everyone says shows interest but doesn't do much else for your application). =/

I already paid for my plane ticket and everything, so I might as well just go and enjoy it, and it will help me at least a little, of course, but still...I was wondering there was any way I could pad my Extracirrculars to show my interest in Poli Sci and Intl Affairs, which I want to double major in.

Right now, all I have for ECs are
- an assortment of Clubs (Asian Culture Club, Model UN, Civil Rights, Book Club, French Club, and I'll be joining Environment + Amnesty International next year)
-second place in a state Congressional contest
-School Newspaper,
-getting a letter published in the Houston Chronicle,
-and a program that handed out bikes to kids on Christmas Eve 2 years ago.

I'm going to try to volunteer in the library, but has anyone else tried to volunteer for something that would show some kind of community or political interest?

I'm trying to boost my application for my "reach" schools, Georgetown, one of my top choices at the moment, George Washington, and my "safeties", University of Texas and American.

Thanks a lot!

Most state reps can always use help in their office's.

No matter where you live, I'm sure there are candidates running for local office, like school board or state delagate or something to that effect. Most of them would love to have someone else helping them on their campaign. Just call them up, be polite, and I'm sure they'll find some way for you to help out.
