random question...hows the weather at ucla this summer? some of the forecasts i looked at said highs of like 80...that's not very hot at all. i remember orientation last summer was insanely hot - i would start sweating just from stepping outside. has the summer weather gotten cooler?

no…it doesnt really get into the 90s that close to the coast

its probably just as hot as last summer

eh, UCLA’s a solid 5 miles from the coast - we don’t really get an ocean breeze. But OP, its CA summer weather - what are you complaining about?

its been high 80s, not too warm if you just wear a tshirt, instead of a jacket you will be warm enough for morning and cool enough for the day

The weather tends to stay in the 80’s, but occasionally you get weeks that are much hotter. I would guess your Orientation was a fluke.

UCLA is very mild compared to other populated parts of Southern California. I think all of us who have been around here for awhile would agree that 80 degree weather about every day is pretty good weather for summer in Los Angeles. There has to be some sea breeze effect on campus (even if it doesn’t feel like a cool wind); there are no mountains to block it quite like the San Fernando Valley. It did reach 119 degrees in Woodland Hills in 2006 where there is clearly little to no sea breeze, after all.

the ocean do have some effects on the weather here, i live in the IE (inland empire) and its a solid 10+ degrees out there

^ I’m not saying there’s no effect (of course its going to get warmer the more inland you go) - I’m just saying we don’t get any good ocean breezes like, say, UCSD or UCSB
