what do most of you do during the summer when you're not at school? I just thought about this and how I really really really don't want to come back to my hometown and live with my parents for 3 months...
is it possible to move somewhere and get a job for just 3 months? (like in another city besides your hometown and your college's city)

I had the same thought, so I got a job at my college for this summer as an OA (Orientation Advisor), so I'm living in the on-campus apartments for free for at least two months. Yay.

You can search for summer jobs and internships online and through company websites.

haha weird you replied because I'm thinking of going to UMD next year.. (I don't want to go home to western maryland)

Yes, western Maryland is a bit...lacking. I go to Frostburg and ws excited to get back to civilization in southern MD for break. Now, I'm ready to go back to school. In the summer, I'll be going back to my job that I've had since 2005 and will hopefully get hired at the Target that will be finished around the time I get back in May.

ajr62807, you may just have to tough it out with your parents this summer. If you don't have a friend or relative that will take you in for the summer, where would you go? As far as jobs go, employers don't like to hear that you'll be leaving in three months ( I know from personal experience when I was looking for a second, summer job last year). Aside from work, I'll be taking my one required math class at CSM.

Last summer I went home and worked and took classes. This summer I am staying in town and taking classes here and probably working too.

I'm planning to stay on campus the first half of summer and take classes, then I'm going to a summer dance intensive for three weeks. Hopefully after that I will be home and work for a few weeks.

This summer, I'm going to two summer programs. Then when I return home, I hope to either get a job or take classes at my college.

For me its either summer school or paid summer research in computer science.

job (either internship or a classic summer job), taking differential calc at a CC, and havin fun =) hopefully orientation too at some point for a new school

getting an apartment and a summer internship/job is the usual way to go. find some friends from school who want to do the same thing and live with them - it can get lonely during the summer without some people around all the time, especially if you're on or near campus.

you will probably be able to live with some friends from school, as Denzera mentioned. Another option is study aboad... of course that doesn't make you any money. And it's probably almost too late to study abroad this summer.

I live in the same town as my college, so I just stay here and take summer classes.
