Is everyone here studying for the SATs over the summer? Or are you just chilling with your peers, and colleagues?

Not many highschool students in this country study over the summer. :)

In korea though, Its insane. My cousin studied for 1 week straight without sleep in college(In korea), and barely made the cut.
Korean kids there memorize 400+ words a day...Now thats intense, not to mention that if they don't recall the words, corporal punishment anyone? :)

In August I'll start studying for the subject tests. I'd start before then, but I've got State 4H Congress and the county fair to get through, first. :)

For some reason, ArtOfMind, all of your posts include stories that are unbelievable.

Yeah..you are exaggerating ArtofMind..I've heard about the toughness there. They probably just pull an all-nighter once..and they do it only a couple times a year..

ArtOfMind isn't exaggerating, my uncle went a year without sleep and memorized upwards of 1000 words a day. Needless to say, he broke 1800 on his SATs.

One can't go too long without sleep; he'll go insane. Anyone ever notice that they feel absolutely ridiculously awful after pulling an all-nighter? Imagine that...times 7. I would rather die.

Only a year? he has no determination..... :)

he is exaggerating. I know someone who went 3 days without sleep and she acted like a drunk when i saw her. It has also been studied through matching patterns where one can connect dots and match things perfectly at the beginning of one day, but cant do it after 3-4 days. A drunk is given the same test and finds GREAT difficulty and eventually fails. Well, the person without sleep for 3-4 days does worst. Cant match simple patterns and cant connect 4 dots. What good would it do to study after 4 days without sleep when you arent even focused?

I'm Korean and I don't think I can go without sleep for more than 2 days. ..
But I heard from somewhere that Harvard students can study without sleeping for 3 or 4 days straight. Do you guys think that's true?? My parents think that's reasonable. well.. I really don't think so..

With drugs you can diffidently stay up for 7 days. And be perfectly productive. That being said, afterwards you crash and no, by 'drug' I do not mean caffeine pills.

However it is unbelievable for anyone to 'learn' 400 words a day....

i think it's possible.
though might not be long-term memorization,i do believe memorizing 400 words a day is possible.
the first time i started memorizing words,i've done like 90 words once, in only like 2 hours. i had so much enthusiam back then, then slowly i decrease the wordload to like 50ish.
im just a normal person,i do believe there are 'not-normal' people out there, do crazy stuff, so 400 is possible =)
