Summer

If you have read any of my previous threads, then you are aware of how ardent I have become about the whole idea of attending a boarding school. I have been reading on many websites for schools that I someday hope to attend coughloomiscoughLawrencevilleHotckiss*cough Choate and Taft. They seem to offer really interesting, the only problem is that for many of them, I cannot find important information such as dates, costs, or even how to apply. If you have any advice/ideas, please comment on this thread. Also I would be truly grateful if you looked at my hooks that I have established so far, I also need help on those to!
THANKS!

it’s EXTREMELY laid back, from what i hear.

We looked at Choate, Hotchkiss, Taft and Portsmouth Abbey’s summer programs. We felt the available courses were far more limited at Choate, Hotchkiss and Portsmouth Abbey relative to Taft. We chose Taft and were very pleased. It’s a solid 5 week program.

We found the five weeks and four subjects of the Taft summer program to be perfect. It allowed for a nice mix of math, writing, the arts and some test prep. There was regular afternoon athletics so kids get a sense of the BS rhythm. The Hotchkiss program was fine if your interest is music or environmental studies, but it’s pretty focused. Choate’s creative writing program is short and interferes with the longer programs available. Portsmouth Abbey’s looked quite appealing (especially summer on the ocean). We decided that five weeks would feel a lot more substantial than four, and also viewed it as a trial run as our child considered applying to BS. It was a big success.
