I'm a bit confused about the summers section on the Princeton supplement. My first impression was that it should be a relatively short briefing of the most important things you did. (I mentioned Governor's School, HOBY leadership conference, and volunteering). As I pasted it into the application, I realized that there was a HUGE amount of space left. Do they expect more out of this? How long should it be? Should I talk about vacations and regular things like that?

I wrote something like randombetch did. I didn’t really do any summer courses or programs or anything like that, except for Boys State, so I pretty much wrote the other random stuff I did. Share anything that you did that was interesting to you.

EDIT: You’re submitting your application already? Have they changed the deadline drastically since last year?

I listed stuff like my vacations and watching the Tour de France and I was accepted. If you have extra space just list everything you did. The admissions officers know that high school students relax and have fun during the summer (even if they are at the same time taking classes, doing research or whatever), and they want to know what you did to relax.

I am using the same supplement essay for Yale SCEA so summers and short takes were the only two things I had to do for princeton. That’s why I’m submitting now.
