SummerStart?

Has anyone done the SummerStart program for freshmen? I think it sounds interesting, particularly because the financial aid would allow me to have 6 credits for just $600. Also, it would allow me to potentially fulfill my 3rd political science class and have 9 polysci credits going into first semester. That advantage would be very nice given that I'm attempting to double major in polysci with a BFA in Painting. I might even be able to satisfy a writing intensive course requirement. Mostly, I'm just concerned that this sounds like summer preparation for kids who are afraid to be away from their parents for college. That's the farthest thing from me; I have lived on my own halfway across the country before and lived with a random family in Germany. Is it worth the mandatory team building social activities if I can milk a few very cheap credits out of this? If you have attended, was the program interesting? Were the people you met here seemingly normal Syracuse kids or did they seem particularly sheltered?

Thanks for your help! :)
