...are there going to be future organized events/programs that will allow students to stay overnight for a couple of days to sort of get a feel of the NYU experience?

Ask the Admissions Office.

Orientation.

well, yeh, I kind of meant before I make a decision to attend the school. For example, Dartmouth has Dimensions.

and Smith has Discover Weekend, and UCLA has College Day....

so, since no one answered my other thread about this... what happened at sunday at the square?

We certainly appreciate the interest that our newly admitted students have in regards to an over-night experience on campus. And, indeed, when our institution only received 15,000 applications a year this was an opportunity that we were able to provide to any interested high school student. Unfortunately, the demand for this type of experience now far out-weighs our availability to accomodate such requests, even if it was just made available for the admitted class. Please remember that our office made approximately 10,000 offers of admission to our applicants. While the Office of Undergraduate Admissions currently has close to 100 undergraduates working in our office as tour guides it is simply impossible to ask these students to try and provide accomodations over-night for the large number of students who would take us up on such an offer. We sincerely apologize that we are not able to provide this service for students, but it is simply not logistically possible.

If you know a current student, ask him/her to let you crash

NYU UGADMISSIONS, thanks for the helpful posts.

I have two questions:
What are the details on University Day? I was invited to Sunday at the Square but couldn't make it.

AND

Is there a second round of Presidential Scholar offers made once acceptance decisions are made, like in the early summer? My stats are very comparable with others on this board who are in that program (and it must be somewhat statistical if you are asserting (admissions office does at least) that slots are offered to the "top 5%," but I have not been invited and am wondering if there is still hope....................

and almost any of the SUNY schools will make these arrangements for accepted students as well.

So what's wrong with this picture?

Again, I can only reiterate what has previously been said, we simply do not have the student staff to provide this type of service. Please keep in mind that as a University our first priority is the students who are currently enrolled at our school. Asking our 100 student ambassadors to each, potentially, host hundreds(!) of students is certainly not the type of imposition we are comfortable with.

We do offer on-campus events for all admitted students to learn more about our school. More detailed information about these events can be found in the on-line forum that we provide at our own web-site.
