Sunday at the Square

What?? other people get meals rather than refreshments?!?! boycotting. hahaha.

OK... IS THE SUNDAY IN THE SQUARE THE SAME THING AS THE DEAN SCHOLARSHIP?? I GOT A LETTER SAYING THAT THEY WOULD FLY ME INTO NEW YORK (FROM CALI) AND THEY CALLED ME AND ASKED ME WHAT AIRPORT I WOULD LIKE TO GO FROM. THEY ALSO SAID I WOULD GET $25,000 if I ATTENDED. IS THIS THE SAME AS THE SUNDAY IN THE SQUARE?

Brwneyes
yeah, we all wish it was the same...unfortunately for us it's not. You got the big prize, flight, accomodations, meals, and a $25,000 annual scholarship.....everyone else here merely got admission and an invitation for danish and coffee.

Pinkearmuffs-
I called my former professor at NYU, from summer, (I think he's on the admissions committee for film). He told me tisch does not send out sunday on the square things, or any early invitations, and that in about mid-april there is an event for tisch kids (I'm guessing thats the thing on saturday?)

ooh ok thanks safia : ]

woohoo...i got one too
i'm from socali btw

did anyone with an sat<1450 receive one? if im from ny i shd have received one by now?? :(

they were all postmarked for the12thof march so... i would assume so?

That's some good news, thanks Alice.

I mentioned this to one of the college counselors at my school today and he said there's only 20+ Stern Scholars selected each year. Can anyone confirm this?

I just got my Sunday at the Square invite today. Alabama sucks. I can't go to NYU anyway, can't afford it without that Dean's Scholarship.

I seriously doubt that there are only 20 stern scholars.

"did anyone with an sat<1450 receive one? if im from ny i shd have received one by now??"

Possible, but not likely. I would suspect people receiving an invite with 1450s would tend to be athletes, talented URMs, or have some other type of hook.

Keep in mind that these invites go to the very top of the applicant pool, ie the students NYU really really wants (akin to likely letters given by certain ivy league schools). The people who get these invites tend to be superstars who could probably get into any school in the country.

"aww, so Tisch applicants don't receive them?"

I believe Tisch has their own separate event, so its technically not "Sunday at the Square"...same thing, different name. These invites tend to be mostly for those at CAS, Stern, and Gallatin.

lol.. i got an invite and i know that im probably at the bottom of this pool.

Give yourself a little more credit Rainsparkle...you're at the top of a group thats already very elite...you're obviously doing something right!

for the stern sunday at the square, do you think they would not invite you to be a stern scholar if you do not attend the event?

hey i got an invite with a 1410 composite....but i'm planning on being an art major...so i'm sure that factors in....

just wondering...if i don't rsvp ( i don't plan on going) that can't hurt my chances or affect their decison...it's too late for that right?

do many of the recipients attend?

jw - i was just saying that looking at these stats, its true that i belong IN the group, just not close to the top of it.
haha its good, CC keeps me humble. lol

i doubt only 20 stern scholars a year ....numerous people from this board have gotten it, and ED I got a 20k stern scholarship in my financial aid thing, which im assuming is a stern scholar also and other people had similiar stern scholarship awards ED.

yeah i believe at least two people frmo my school got the stern scholars thing, and that would just be ridiculous to make up 10% of the stern scholars haha.
