sunday in the square/university day

i'm sad that i didnt' get one. I'm on the west coast as well, but the person above me already got one. I'm losing hope...

i got one today too! i really did not realize what it was but once i came on here i was really excited! anyway, here's my stats... they're quite low compared to the others but oh well. it's from steinhardt, which could be the difference.

SAT: 2110
GPA: 3.6 something UW
Rank: none
ECs: varsity cheerleading (captain), jv gymnastics, newspaper editor, cancer research center, camp counselor... i am suddenly blanking. but that's basically it.

the sad thing is, i most likely can't go because i am all the way in hawaii. :(

Got one from Stern today..

SAT: 2250
GPA: 3.75
Rank: 10/313
ECS: cool stuff haha

yay?

I got mine from CAS today!

SAT: 2300
GPA: ~95 UW
Rank: 34/580
ECs: tutoring, foreign language, environmental club leadership, some summer stuff

I got mine today too!! So what exactly happens at Sunday in the Square?

I called the admissions office and they said that if you get a Sunday in the Square invitation, it means you were admitted to NYU :)

Does anyone know how many people were invited to the event?

Is anyone going from Los Angeles? If so, I'll see you there :)

Question: I know Tisch has a "Saturday in the Square" but do all the other schools have theirs at the same time? As in, will Steinhardt be mixed in with Stern kids, etc. or will we all meet separately?

If I go (which I am desperately trying arrange at the moment), I want to somehow convey my sincere desire to go to NYU; that it is beyond a shadow of a doubt my #1 choice. Because I doubt I'll qualify for any useful sort of financial aid, I'm hoping for a scholarship. Should I tell them this? I can't go unless I get money, and if this "Sunday in the Square" means they want us, shouldn't I let them know?

I went to my HS counselor for advice today, and to see if he could possibly call the school on my behalf. He said no, and had never heard of the event.

Thanks for calling NYU starfrost.....CONGRATS TO EVERYONE!!!

Sweet, I got an invitation from Gallatin today. I wish I could make the event but I live so far away (CA).

Congrats to all who got letters! I'm checking again tomorrow, and if I don't get one by then, well, then I won't ever get one.
Anyway, does anyone know what the difference is between Sunday in the Square and University Day?

this is so weird. i got an invite, but i don't understand why they would be so vague about the whole thing. like, there is nothing on the website about it. it seems like its all hearsay. don't get me wrong, i'm still happy and excited, but comparing it to likely letters isnt exactly correct, since likely letters pretty much spell it out for their recipients, while sunday at the square does anything but. hmm.. don't wanna count my chickens before they hatch so to speak... but woo-hoo anyway! lol.

Oh, here are some of my stats for people who're interested:
SAT: 2320
GPA: 105.3 W
Rank: 23/116 (uber-competitive magnet school)
ECs: Lotsa Theater, Tennis Captain, Mock Trial, Debate, Newspaper Section Editor, National Honor Society, College Courses at Yale, UPenn and Drexel, some other ish...

okay, so, does anyone know exactly what happens at this thing? i need to figure out asap if it's worth it to try to talk my parents into sending me all the way to new york. did any current students attend in previous years who have an opinion on the subject? thanks.

Does anyone know what time it goes until? I might have to be back at work at 2 pm...

Yeah, I have to agree that it was pretty vague. I got a small envelope the other day, and I was scared that it was a rejection, but it ended up being the famous little card that this thread is named for. Anyhow, I got into the CAS, and I may or may not go to the April 2nd event, but here are my (odd) stats...
