SUnet ID Method of Acceptance Prediction - Did it work?

Congratulations to all who were accepted and the best of luck to everyone else.

Haven't read through all the ED threads, so I apologize if this is redundant, but I was following the pre-decision drama, and was curious if the SUNet ID method turned out to be reliable.

I couldn't log in with my ID # beforehand and I was accepted. I don't think it was an accurate way of predicting decisions.

No asfasdf

No it wasn't. It wasn't reliable because it made no sense.

Hippo or any other accepted students, do you remember how many days before decisions were supposed to come out did you check this method for the last time? If you didn’t check immediately before, it might’ve just been the case that you checked too early, before decisions were even finalized and put into the system.

I’m just trying to see if this method can work for transfers… we’re supposed to hear back next Friday.

well you might as well try it and see what happens. no harm in trying, even though it may not be accurate. I would say it’s a good sign though if you can log in, because if you can log in, then I’d say you’ve been accepted. If you can’t log in, then you may or may not have been accepted.
I’m just pulling this from what other people have said on here in the past, though. I didn’t try myself; I didn’t even realize I had a SUNet ID until after I got my acceptance letter.
Do be careful, though. If they suspect you of trying to access your decision ahead of time, then they can revoke your acceptance.

Actually, that was a joker who said that in the other thread. He/she was just messing with you guys :p

But yeah, we’re hard at work in the transfers forum trying to figure out if this method is even reliable.

I’m pretty sure it only worked the day that admissions came out, maybe eight hours before they released them.

Really? We transfers still have reason to hope then. If you could point me to a thread, that would be great!

Happy to help. hah.

We can hope for at least 6 more days  Thank you.

I tried it like 2 days before it was released and it didn’t work and then I tried a couple hours before decisions were released and it worked.

Great, thank you! That’s very helpful.

Oh btw llpitch, I read in one of the stats thread that you’re a “navy brat” and half-Filipino. My dad had a brief stint in the US Navy as well. He worked in Subic Bay, the largest military base outside the US at the time (but it’s now closed). Pretty cool…or I guess not depending on your perspective. It would be interesting to meet you.

I don’t know where Subic Bay is =[ I’ve only lived in Washington, San Diego, Virginia, and Hawaii (born in Italy but I only lived there for like 4 months).

Ohh Subic Bay is in the Philippines. It’s strictly a prostitution hub now, but for many decades, it served as a strategic military location for the US.

Omg, freaking out here. the SUnet thing just started working for me when it wasn’t earlier today…

“You entered ‘XXXXXXXX’. We recognize this as a University ID. We need some additional identification to verify that you are the person who owns this ID.”

I’ve tried it more than once, and it works.

I really really really hope the theory is true for transfers!

Somebody please say something. Was that ^ the message that the freshman admits got before they found out they were accepted?

Wait a sec, don’t you need a password? I thought you need a password to get in.

Oooo it works for me!! I’ve been waitlisted.
