I've read student comments from the Rochester area saying it's usually overcast and grayish there. Is it the same in Buffalo?

Yeah, it’s overcast and gray during winter. Watch the weather channel to get an idea. It’s all relative. Keep in mind that the most of the classroom buildings on the North campus are connected through underground walkways or other heated/covered walkways. Students can take a bus from Ellicott (the main dorms) to the classroom buildings. They wait for the bus in a covered area under the buildings that is protected from wind by a dog-leg. SUNY Buffalo manages the weather very well.
