sunny skies

hi guys this is a random question i know, but is the smog in LA bad enough to cover up the sun and make the day seem gloomy? i ask this because I come from the east coast and have never been to LA. the only place i have visited in CA has been SF. how does the weather in LA compare with SF? thanks :]

No way. We live in LA County, within 5 miles of the beach. What can cause some gloomy days (yes, this morning seems to be one) is the marine layer than comes in.

The smog situation is much better than it was in the 70’s when I understand smog alerts were a bit too common. Even then it was more of an issue out towards Riverside, I believe. (We moved here in '86, so what I say is based on what I’ve read and heard from old timers.)

You will get more sunny and warmer weather here than in SF. We lived a year in the Bay Area, and liked it fine, but then we were coming from Seattle and the great Pacific Northwet.

its not bad at all, almost everyday will be a clear day with blue skys except like 2 weeks of rain a year… although the smog might get a bit bad in downtown area… we judge how good the weather is by if we can see downtown clearly out of our window  yay sproul 7 lol

Living in San Francisco my entire life, and going to school in LA, I prefer SF weather a lot more. LA is definitely a lot hotter than SF. LA tends to get really hot during the summer, which I am still not used to. Air quality wise, I don’t really like the air in LA, it seems really dirty, especially when you are stuck in traffic and you see smog over you. Haha but I’m not a Sun-type of person overall and prefer the rain, maybe you’ll enjoy it here in LA.
