I was wondering if any current or ex SUNY ALBANY honors college students can let me know what they think of the program. I feel that most honors colleges are a gimmick and do not really mean much in terms of getting a job etc. My son is young, however, if he wants to be an accounting major, is it too much to handle? My son is smart, but not brilliant or a brainiac.

The thing that I think is crazy is that you have to do a thesis. Really?? Am I getting a phd after all is said and done? I just cannot imagine taking 300 and 400 level accounting courses and doing a thesis on some BS subject just so I can get early pick of my classes, and rooming with all honors students. The added value just does not seem to be there. All employers want to see is a good GPA and are you going for your CPA license.

There is also a big risk as well. Honors classes can be GPA killers, so why do I want to subject my son to that if he has to eventually go to grad school and get a MS in accounting.

All thoughts are appreciated. Thanks
