I am looking to transfer to either SUNY Binghamton or SUNY Albany in the fall and I'm having a difficult time deciding between the two. I have heard that they both have great accounting programs but Binghamton is better then Albany. However I have a lot of close friends at Albany and have heard nothing but good things about it while I don't know anything about Binghamton. My main question is if graduating with an accounting degree from Binghamton will lead me towards a better career then one from Albany. Is the difference big enough that i should choose Binghamton even though I would enjoy my social life more at Albany?

Well let’s see…Binghamton’s accounting program is ranked #2 in the nation by Business Week…Binghamton is the #1 feeder school in the nation to PriceWaterhouseCooper and the #3 feeder school to the Big 4.

Binghamton is ranked #1 in the northeast and #4 in the nation for top salaries for new grads from public universities.

If you want to be surrounded by motivated academically talented students who have real balance in their lives as they pursue Ivy League academics, the answer should be coming to you.

Doesn’t matter…go where you’re happy.

Your life won’t be better if you go to one state school with better current rankings or stats vs another state school.

Your job interview is more about YOU.

Believe me it doesn’t work like this: “Lets see…these two candidates are equal in every way except one went to SUNY Binghamton and one went to SUNY Albany…so I guess we will have to chooses the candidate from the state school with the better stats and magazine rankings…and we might as well pay him more too.”

Not only does it not matter that much…it doesn’t matter at all.

Binghamton is definitely the better choice for accounting than Albany. As a senior accounting major who has already accepted a job offer at a Big 4 I am completely bias in my choice that binghamton is a better school but it’s for a good reason. Binghamton has the #2 accounting program in the country and all the Big 4 public accounting firms and all the large midsized firms recruit from here. PwC sponsors the scholars’s program and is in works with developing a co-op program for accounting students. Binghamton is well known in the accounting firm, just ask any Big 4 recruiter. This past summer, I interned with a Big 4 and out of 200 interns, 40 of us were from Binghamton. There were maybe 3 or 4 from Albany. I hope this helps!

nonsense, accounitng is accounting. albany has an excellent program and has the big 4 up there all of the time just like bing. bing is nowhere near an ivy league school
