SUNY Albany vs. FSU

So I'm a freshmen at SUNY Albany. UAlbany was my third choice of college, I chose it because I live on Long Island so it was a very practical choice. Don't get me wrong, the school is good, and it has my major as well. I am happy here, but I feel like I can be a lot happier somewhere else.

FSU has been on my mind ever since my junior year of high school. It also has my major, and has a lot more to offer than SUNY Albany does. I'm applying there as a transfer for next fall, but what I want to know is is it really worth the extra $12,000 a year?

The aspects to college that matter to me are the academics, the opportunities presented to me after college, social life, and athletics. It seems like FSU takes the win over SUNY Albany on every single one of those aspects. SO, my question to you guys is do I transfer to FSU for an extra $12,000 a year?

BUMP

how much does 12K/year matter to you and your family? can you even afford it? how much debt will it involve?

Generally speaking, it’s a little early to be making this decision. Lots of students are having the regrets that you are, but they will get over those regrets as they get to know their classmates, professors, suite mates, and their schools. You might find you have a 4.0 after your first year; would you really bolt under those conditions? So don’t be surprised if you’re loving Albany this time next year. There were reasons why it was on your list, really good reasons it was #3.

We cannot help you until you tell us whether or not an extra 36K is peanuts or a sizable but affordable investment.
